Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner in PREPARE clinic serves as an integral member of the Department of Anesthesiology and Preoperative Services, providing comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations for patients scheduled for surgical or procedural interventions. This role involves independently conducting thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and risk assessments to ensure patients are medically optimized for anesthesia and surgery. The NP collaborates closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to identify potential perioperative risks, initiate appropriate diagnostic workups, and coordinate necessary preoperative consultants. The position emphasizes clinical excellence, patient safety, and efficient surgical throughput by ensuring timely and thorough preparation of patients in accordance with institutional protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
UCSF Medical Center requires all APPs to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Office in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). This process may take up to 90 days and must be completed prior to the start date in any APP position.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

- Five (5) years of recent NP employment experience
- Two (2) years in an ambulatory/clinic setting
- OR/PRE-OP or PACU experience or critical care experience
- Pre-op evaluation/clearance as an NP
- Five (5) years of recent NP employment experience
- Two (2) years in an ambulatory/clinic setting
- Experience in cardiac surgery and/ or cardiology.
- OR/PRE-OP or PACU experience or critical care experience
- Pre-op evaluation/clearance as an NP
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction
- California Nurse Practitioner (NP) License without restriction
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
- NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role
- Adult Outpatient (A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC)
- California Driver License (if required for position)
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
