This clinic is focused on improving modifiable risk factors for patients undergoing total joint procedures. As part of this innovative approach, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to help optimize patients’ health conditions to improve surgical outcomes following total hip and knee replacement surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead medical optimization efforts for patients preparing for total joint orthopedic surgeries

• Manage modifiable risk factors preoperatively, such as weight loss, nutrition, and other medical management

• Close collaboration with case managers, social workers, and the surgical team

• Develop personalized care plans and track patient progress through the preoperative process

• Provide expertise and support in managing complex patient cases to enhance surgical outcomes

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in medical optimization, particularly in a preoperative or perioperative setting

• Strong background in Internal Medicine or similar medical disciplines

• Extensive experience managing complex patients, particularly those undergoing orthopedic surgeries like total joint replacements

A Brief Overview

The Physician Assistant (PA) functions under this Physician Assistant Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). What you will do

C. Scope of Practice of the PA:
1. Evaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty.
2. Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients.
3. Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient.
Orders or furnishes medications under physician supervision, in accordance with the practice agreement, consistent with the PA’s educational preparation and training, and upon completion of a California Physician Assistant Board approved controlled substance course.
a. All PA’s who are credentialed and privileged by April, 2021 who have not completed a controlled substance course must successfully complete the course by August 31, 2021 during which time patient specific approval of a medication order by a supervising physician is obtained, documented in the medical record, and is co-signed. 4. Orders and collects specimens for routine laboratory tests, screening procedures and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products.
5. Orders physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations and nursing services.
6. Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency, according to written standardized procedures where applicable.
7. Obtains informed consent, as indicated.
8. Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.
9. As directed by the supervising physician, enrolls patients in investigational studies approved by the Investigational Review Board (IRB), and orders the necessary tests and medications. [see Standardized Procedure : Administering, Ordering, Furnishing or Prescribing of Drugs; Formulary Protocol] Medications that are not FDA-approved or are used for a non-FDA- approved indication (off-label use) require a patient-specific order in advance from the supervising physician.
10. After appropriate training, assists the supervising physician in the operating room (OR).
a. Acts as first or second assistant under the supervision of an approved supervising physician.
b. Performs surgical procedures in the personal presence of the supervising physician.
11. Recognizes and considers age-specific needs of patients.
12. Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.
13. Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.
14. Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.
15. Facilitates collaboration between providers and coordination of community resources.
16. Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory and clinical policies and procedures.
17. Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
18. Provides and coordinates patient teaching and counseling.

Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for meeting all clinical, administrative, and financial performance metrics. This position is responsible for implementing, delivering, and ensuring that the highest quality of patient-centered care is delivered. Job Responsibilities Provides patient centered, comprehensive primary care services Participate in the selection of suitable treatment plans for all patients Supervise staff to ensure the care team is providing appropriate care in accordance with their duties and obligations Assist other care providers and extended care teams Provide continuous availability for medical and technical questions to the employees, patient care staff, and ancillary care providers including after hours coverage Actively participate in quality improvement programs, as well as participate in multidisciplinary quality assurance programs Collaborate with the management team as needed to ensure improvement of patient care Cooperate with clinical outcome reviews and measurements Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols Provide general medical care and treatment to patients in the health center under the direction of a physician (depending on state) Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by physician. Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures May refer patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Internal Medicine or Family Practice Must be Board Certified Must be licensed to practice in appropriate state Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required Preferred Qualifications Proficient in promoting the clinic Strong communication skills Physical Job Requirements May require standing, walking and sitting for extended amounts of time. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination Includes full range of body motion including potential of handling and lifting patients. Requires corrected vision, hearing and speech within normal ranges. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients and team members. The base pay range for this position is $73.29 to $95 per hour. Pay range may vary depending on work location, applicable knowledge, skills, and experience. This position will be eligible for 401K. What You’ll Do Day-to-Day As an Ageless Provider, you’ll serve as a trusted clinician for patients pursuing lasting improvements in their health and vitality. You’ll lead patient evaluations, manage treatment plans, and oversee the delivery of safe, evidence-based therapies that produce measurable results. Daily responsibilities include: Conducting new patient consultations, reviewing medical histories, and performing physical assessments. Prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and related medications. Overseeing the administration of weight management treatments , including GLP-1 medications , and monitoring patient progress. Reviewing and signing off on patient charts, treatment documentation, and lab results in the EMR. Ensuring compliance with all state and federal medical regulations, safety standards, and internal protocols. Educating patients about hormone optimization, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications to enhance results. Collaborating closely with the medical director and clinical leadership to maintain consistent, high-quality care across the clinic.
