The Surgical unit has 41 private rooms and is located on the third floor. This unit cares for patients who are above 17 years of age who require medical/surgical nursing care. The primary population served is surgical to include but not limited to: orthopedics, bariatrics, vascular, neurology and general surgery. This unit also serves general medical patients with a diagnosis including but not limited to: sepsis, respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, skin and wound conditions and infections. Modified primary nursing is the care delivery model utilized and includes the following team members: Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Case Managers, Discharge Planners, Social Workers and Unit Secretary. The team is also supported by a unit-based Pharmacist, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, and an Unit-based Educator.This position is responsible for providing assistance with patient care activities and non-nursing tasks under the direct supervision of the RN and in cooperation with other nursing staff.This position requires providing services to one or more age populations, including infant through geriatric, in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Process and Patient Safety Plan at Blessing Hospital.

Education/Training/Experience
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Good verbal communication skills
- C.N.A
- OR be of at least 16 years of age with an active C.N.A. certificate.
- CNA certification in good standing on the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Healthcare Worker Registry
- PCA or SNA- Must have completed one of the following:
- Patient Care Experience
- Completed a C.N.A. Program
- Completed at least sophomore year of a nursing program (SNA)
- CNA certification in good standing on the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Healthcare Worker Registry (N/A for PCA or SNA)
- Non-exempt hourly
