Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary: Provides skilled perioperative nursing care to patients according to their individual needs and supervises associated personnel in related activities.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • You will assist with surgical procedures in the scrub and circulating roles and supervise non-professional personnel in these areas. 
  • You will assist in maintaining a safe aseptic environment. 
  • You need to be able to carry out the functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the patient under the direction or supervision of the surgeon.
  • You will assist in department quality improvement activities.
  • You will assist in OR staff development and education.
  • You will participate in continuing educational activities.
  • You will assist in the control and maintenance of drugs, supplies, and equipment.
  • You must have the ability to assess developmental needs of patients from infancy to the elderly and to modify care appropriately.
  • You must be able to interpret pertinent findings and adapt to the OR setting.

What qualifications you will need:

  • RN California License
  • CNOR Certification Required
  • BCLS required
  • ACLS required
  • AA Degree minimum
  • Graduate of an accredited RNFA Program with completion of precepted clinical portion
  • Two years’ operating room experience
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology

Riverside Community Hospital is a large acute care facility with 517 beds, established in 1901. The Nurse will be responsible for assessing patient health problems and needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining medical records.
