Folsom Surgery Center, is seeking a motivated Certified Surgical Technologist and Materials Coordinator to join our team. Folsom Surgery Center is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Experienced in supporting in the following specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology.

Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or previous surgical technician experience of at least two years.

Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians

Picks materials, supplies and equipment for the subsequent day’s cases, and puts away any unused supplies at the end of each day. Works with the team to remove outdated supplies from inventory. Perform terminal cleaning of the surgical suite at the end of each day. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients and visitors regardless of age or ethnic background. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team, and is open and willing to train and mentor new staff and surgical residents/medical students.
