Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Registered Nurse in the State of Practice. Start of BSN program within 1 year of hire and completed within 4 years of hire required. BSN in Nursing preferred.
Any previously agreed upon effective date for obtaining a Bachelors's degree in nursing between individuals and facilities will remain in effect.
Any collective bargaining contract with specific time frames for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing will supersede the above point and will remain in effect. Experience: The Registered Nurse must be a graduate nurse eligible to take the state board examination or a registered nurse currently licensed in the state of employment and must complete an IV challenge examination as outlined by the hospital within the orientation period. In addition, the Registered Nurse must meet the individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment. Must maintain CPR certification and practice. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care, and effectively prioritize patient needs that are both expected and unanticipated. Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with other health care professional and patients. Demonstrate competence and resourcefulness in the implementation of the technical skills required to care for the patient. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current in the organization and department policies, procedures, and standards. Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addresses actual and potential problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation. Assist with educating patients and families and serves as a resource on department standards for patient care. This is a full-time position that includes weekend and holiday rotation. Required Skills and Experience: Graduate Nurse graduated from an accredited nursing school Eligible/obtain limited permit Must obtain BLS and ACLS certification prior to completion of the introductory period. Physical Demands: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
