- Participates in the nursing process during delivery of patient care.
- Assists in providing nursing care to patients and collects data for assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Participates in implementing a formal plan of care for the patient under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Participates in at least four unit staff meetings per year, attends mandatory programs.
- Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
- Assesses personal and learning development needs. Regularly updates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served.
- Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services provided.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
- Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor.

- Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).
- Assists in orientation of other personnel to the unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Obtain BLS Certification upon the completion of the Apprenticeship Program
- The Nursing Assistant Registered Apprenticeship Program:
- Includes classroom curriculum with an accredited Nursing Assistant Program
- Includes on-the-job training
- Must successfully complete Program within 6 months of hire into Trainee position
- Upon completion of the Nursing Assistant Registered Apprenticeship Program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant Grade S7, Job Code: 8003
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will-Train program
- Upon completion of the Cape Cod Hospital Nursing Assistant training program, successful passage of the Cape Cod Hospital written competency exam for Nursing Assistant
- Upon completion of the Cape Cod Hospital Nursing Assistant Training program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant Grade S7, Job Code: 8003
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- MA Certified Nursing Assistant License
- Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or National CMA
- Successful completion of an EMT Program or EMT-B/EMT-P License
- Successful completion of an LPN Program
- Equivalent clinical Military experience
- Nursing student who is currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing School Program and has completed Fundamentals of Nursing/Nursing 101 in lieu of a Nursing Assistant Program
- Successful completion of the Cape Cod Hospital Nursing Assistant Training program
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Successful passage of CPI training within 6 months of hire and must maintain recertification annually
Performs as a member of the Nursing Team various duties assisting Staff Nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
