THE POSITION

St. Lawrence Health is looking to hire full-time CRNAs to join our team of dedicated providers!

  • Primary location is Canton-Potsdam Hospital with potential to provide outreach to other facilities. 
  • CRNA manages patient during procedure; will perform anesthesia on all ages.
  • Skills required: Labor epidural, comfort with central line placement preferable but not required.
  • Types of cases: bread and butter includes OB, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, healthy pediatrics, outpatient surgery, occasional thoracic, trauma and regional anesthesia; will insert lumbar epidural catheters, administer spinal anesthesia and will sometimes administer Axillary Brachial Plexus Blocks; though not typical, CRNA may perform other procedures and provide assistance as needed.
  • Practice model: care team and independent practice. Cases are a mix of direction – supervision and independent. Position offers a lot of autonomy.
  • Regular OR hours are 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, first staff in is first staff out at end of day. CRNA schedule will be a mix of 24-hour shifts and 8 hour days for a total of 40 hours per week.
  • Department Numbers: 6 full time anesthesiologists, 9 full time CRNAs, 1 part time CRNA, 3 anesthesia techs.
  • Call requirement: 1:9. CRNA rotation covers 1st first call Su-Fr and 2nd call Saturday. CRNA is off the day after being on 1st call.

Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly-hired CRNAs, SRNAs, and medical students in the clinical area, as applicable. 12. Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines. 13. Coordinates breaks, lunches, relief order and assignment of cases. Assesses the immediate staffing needs based on consultation with the clinical team. 14. In conjunction with leaders, assures the most economical utilization of time, materials and resources through the review of workflow and staffing patterns in order to achieve optimal productivity and to provide cost effective staffing patterns that ensure appropriate utilization of staff and skill mix to provide patient care. 18. In conjunction with the Chief and Assistant Chief CRNA, Assures the adherence of all standards and policies as set forth by WVUH and the accrediting bodies for the purposes of licensure, regulation and accreditation. 19. Assists leaders in timely follow-up investigations incident reports. Ultimately, if corrective action of an employee is required, the Chief CRNA will be responsible. 20. In conjunction with CRNA leadership, facilitates the professional development of personnel.
