Program runs from Sept 21, 2025 to April 4, 2026

62 per hour plus differentials 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

·All seasonal employees are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.

·Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.

·Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.

·During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).

·Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.

·Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.

·Seasonal Staff willnotbe eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)

·Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.

·Current employees of Medical City Healthcare and HWS arenot eligiblefor the seasonal program. 

·Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

    • Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
    • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
    • Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
    • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
    • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

    What qualifications you will need:
    • ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • (RN) Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Texas 
    • Associate Degree required, BSN preferred 
    • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • 2+ years of experience in a Hospital Emergency Room required

About the Role The PAT/ PreOp/ PACU RN is responsible to handle inbound pre-operative patients to ensure patients receive quality pre-operative screening for our surgical procedures and Post anesthetic care patients emerging from the haze of anesthesia. There are several tasks a PACU nurse needs to perform in a post-operative unit such as guiding patients to consciousness and assisting them in handling personal needs in the first few hours after surgery. A PAT / PreOp / PACU nurse is important not just for their role as a guide in the outcome of a surgery but also for handling medication administration duties which are very important at this stage. Even though most patients do not remember the PAT / PreOp / PACU nurse that attended to their needs, they play an imperative role in helping patients start on the road to recovery. POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Pre-admissions Testing Nurse Duties: Pre-admission testing nurse or PAT nurse duties include overseeing intake, during which you perform an initial physical assessment and interview the patient to obtain their medical history. PAT duties include performing any tests the surgeon has ordered, such as an EKG, and may be expected to draw blood for lab work. PAT nurses are often among the first people patients deal with as they prepare to have surgery. The PAT nurse is expected to help patients understand the process, answer any questions they might have, and discuss their post-surgical care plan with them. Preoperative Duties of Nurse: Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department in a hospital. Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband. Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order. Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out. Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure. Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff. Post-operative Duties of PACU Nurse: Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performed. Ensure that all vitals are within normal range. Log all findings in patients’ files. Answer patients’ questions and ensure that they are kept comfortable. Make sure that all relevant IVs are in check. Develop individualized care plans based on each individual patient’s condition. Ensure that all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to the individual patient care plan. Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor. Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications. Determine when patients are ready to be moved to their rooms. Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies. Record sedation levels and body temperature. Manage blood and fluid transfusions and draw specimens. Ensure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitized. Change bandages and dress surgical wounds. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current and active CPR certification. Current and valid nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing board. 2-3 Years’ experience as a in critical care nursing required.
