Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, and oversee the administration of all associated nursing and support staff.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate all nursing services to include associated administrative operations and activities.
  • Review, establish and maintain patient care protocol and standards, ensuring that all federal and state, Armor, and facility policies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met.
  • Establish and coordinate quality improvement, safety, and infection control programs
  • Review pharmacy utilization to ensure adherence to the formulary.
  • Establish and implement short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures
  • Design, establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives, recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates professional and contract staff.

Qualifications

  • Current unencumbered state license as an RN
  • Bachelors in Nursing preferred
  • Previous nursing supervisory experience, preferably in a correctional healthcare setting
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Proficient with electronic medical records
  • Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance to include a background check and drug screen

DYS is seeking a Nurse 1 to oversee facility healthcare functions. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background and a passion to habilitate youth. Specifically, The Nurse 1 Will Provide professional nursing care to youth assigned to CJCF including specialized & technical services (e.g., wound care, oxygen therapy, First Aid/CPR, suctioning, & phlebotomy duties); observes & records symptoms, reactions, & progress; ensures administration of prescribed medication; monitors restrained youth per standard procedure; triage youth for emergency treatment; provides treatment per protocol & standing orders; reports to physician and HSA; completes the transfer/intake assessment process (i.e, cursory medical exam to include skin, auscultation of breath & heart, oral/vision screens).
