The Outpatient Cancer Center provides intravenous administration of medication, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products. Direct specialized patient care and education for the outpatient Oncology population, including Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Hematology patient population.

Role Purpose

The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized patient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes, initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s).

Participates in professional developmentManages the health care of patient populations with compassion through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. They have extensive experience treating children with common to complex heart issues, from cardiac surgeries and cardiac catheterizations to heart monitoring. They are the region’s go-to heart program for second opinions and referrals for advanced pediatric heart care. The Heart Center Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease in the Intensive Care Unit and on the Transitional Care unit. This patient population includes, but is not limited to, pre and/or post-operative cardiac surgery patients, dysrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, pre and post-operative care of heart and lung transplants, and patients requiring Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) or Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation.
