Job Summary Performs duties of a licensed practical nurse as prescribed by the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act. Assists departmental assistant with clinical matters. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a vocational program for Licensed Practical Nurse. Experience Prefer at least 1-2 year experience in a clinical or physician-office setting, emergency room and/or a hospital setting that provides patient care. Experience in office clerical activities desirable. (Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience) Licensure/Certification Current LPN license from the State of Oklahoma or active Multistate LPN license is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained for duration of employment. Compensation/Benefits $17.39-$28.40/hr depending on previous work experience. Position Title: LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Pulmonology Clinic Department: OUPB Pulmonology Job Description: General Summary Under general supervision, provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Assists with the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients. Provides care according to an established nursing plan. Observes changes in patient’s condition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur. Provides routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement, and discontinuing of oral-gastric tube. Initiates and monitors oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol. Suctions and cleans tracheotomy sites. May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal, and topical medications. Prepares patients for routine physical examinations and assist the physician during examinations. An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room. General Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requirements HS Diploma or GED required. Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.
