MEDICAL ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant functions as an important member of the healthcare team by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
Documented successful completion of the following courses (or their recognized course equivalent): (1) Medical Terminology from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class, (2) Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class, and (3) Pharmacology from an accredited institution.
Two years of Medical Assistant-related work experience and completion of the required educational courses listed above within the first 12 months from hire.

Once hired at Marshfield Clinic Health System one will need to be enrolled/accepted into the clinic paid Medical Assistant ICATAP program prior to starting the apprenticeship. The apprentice would work in a clinic department 32 hours per week as a Medical Assistant - Apprentice and then would be paid for 8 hours per week of educational training time for a total of 40 hours per week. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Minimum Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Enrollment in ICATAP MA Apprenticeship Program Preferred/Optional: Completion of a Medical Terminology course. Graduate of a vocational technical Health Unit Coordinator Program, Medical Office Specialist, or Medical Secretary. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Keyboard, computer, and telephone proficiency. Preferred/Optional: Six months’ previous experience with MCHS or related entity. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire. Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
