Job Description

This position requires the use of sound professional and managerial knowledge to collaborate with other members of the Administrative Team and Department Managers in decision making about health care services and organizational priorities. This position requires effective leadership, organizational, analytical, process and problem solving skills. Fiscal responsibility to meet or exceed budget projections/expectations for our people, products and services is expected.
The DON is the designated leader for a specific nursing unit(s). The DON is responsible for the patient population and assigned staff. The DON will plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the unit activities. The (DON) will also provide direction, support and guidance to the Nurse Mangers, Assistant
Nurse Managers (if applicable), Nurses (including all capacities of Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse), Patient Care Technicians, Certified Nurse Assistants, and Unit Secretaries in their development both
clinically and professionally. Twenty-four-hour accountability to their specific nursing unit(s), the patients they serve, and to MUSC Health Catawba Division as clinical and business leader.

Additional Job Description

Education:
Master’s degree in Nursing; or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in
Nursing; or Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Experience:
Five years of healthcare leadership experience in administration or in a closely related activity, of which at
least three years were in a management capacity in a hospital environment.

Licenses/Certificates:
Registered Nurse by South Carolina Board of Nursing
