Job Summary

The Division of Neonatology at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is seeking a motivated, dependable, hard-working individual to serve as an advanced practice provider.

The candidate should be flexible with a commitment to outstanding clinical care and education. The Division of Neonatology is comprised of 18 faculty members, 2 advanced practitioners and 6 neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows. Our faculty work in three Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Phoenixville Hospital and Temple University Hospital. Our faculty are involved with training St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellows, pediatric residents and Drexel University College of Medicine and Temple University College of Medicine students. St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children has a 39 bed Level IV NICU, which offers the highest level of care to critically ill neonates. The qualified candidate will work solely in the St. Christopher’s Hospital level IV NICU. They will work closely with the 8 faculty members who work in the St. Chris NICU, as well as the neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows and pediatric residents. The NICU is referral-based, without a delivery service. We have a multi-specialty team to help care for these complex patients, including a neonatal nutritionist, clinical pharmacist, social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and 80 bedside nurses, as well as the full range of pediatric and surgical sub-specialists. St. Chris NICU has approximately 200 admission each year. The division has a strong commitment to quality improvement work and participates in the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Consortium and the Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia network.

Position responsibilities:

The APP will do a combination of days, nights and weekends, average of 40 hours per week
1-2 nights per week, 1-2 Sunday day shifts per month
This position includes hospital rounding and/or overnight coverage
As a referral based NICU, advanced practice providers will be a part of the neonatal transport team during their scheduled shifts.
Procedures expected to perform in the hospital setting: Intubation, arterial blood draws, venous blood draws, UVC/UAC placement, IV placement, PICC placement

The Nemours Cardiac Center (NCC) provides comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents with cardiac, thoracic, and vascular disease. The Cardiac Center provides patient care, performs research, educates and trains health care professionals in a variety of settings. This individual will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, dedicating his/her specialized practice to cardiac patients located in either the cardiac intensive care unit, on our telemetry floor or in our post anesthesia cardiac unit (cardiac PACU). The APRN or PA will also be involved with cardiac babies delivered on site in our advanced delivery unit. Our patient population ranges from newborns to young adults with congenital or acquired heart disease. Our surgeons perform all of the complex cardiac repairs, including definitive neonatal surgery, adult congenital surgery, and heart transplantation. They utilize all forms of mechanical support (VAD’s, ECMO, ECLS) as an adjunct to our very active heart failure and pulmonary hypertension service. This position will include working some night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Essential Responsibilities Obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, order and interpret laboratory data, and prescribe management and medications on patients admitted to our inpatient service. Present patients on rounds, write daily progress notes, collate inpatient records, and complete discharge summaries using the electronic medical record.
