The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for administering direct resident care and performing any other duties deemed necessary to ensure optimal resident care. Works under direction and supervision of the licensed nurse.

  • Performs I&Os; checks vital signs and weight, specimen collection, and post-mortem care.
  • Completes daily documentation in residents' health record as directed
  • Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees. Maintains good working relations with nursing unit staff and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.
  • Instills confidence in residents by maintaining a neat appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner. Reports observations of residents to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.
  • With specialized training and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to the assigned area.
  • Communicates resident care data, observations, and information to other health care team members.
  • Uses downtime effectively to make rounds, stock, clean or performs other appropriate actions within scope of responsibility.
  • Safely practices resident care according to policies, procedures, and established practices.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform resident care in a calm, efficient and professional manner.
  • Functions as a team member, demonstrating the initiative to assist team members in completing assignments.
  • Completes unit support duties as assigned by unit nurse and/or DON.
