STNA (CNA) Qualifications: Must have completed an Ohio State Department of Health Competency Test from an accredited program with a minimum requirement of 75 hours of certification Must be certified by the state as a nurses' aide with an unrestricted, active aide certification. 1 year of current experience as a Hospice Aide or Nurses Aide is required. Hospice or Home Health Agency experience preferred. Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and their families, as well as all interdisciplinary caregivers, peers, subordinates, and supervisors. Must exhibit or demonstrate the ability to learn computer skills related to required clinical software and electronic clinical record utilization. Must have reliable vehicle/transportation, valid driver's license, required automobile insurance, and the ability to safely and independently operate said vehicle. On this unit, you will gain a wide variety of skills you can use in advanced positions or other departments within the Cleveland Clinic system. A caregiver in this position works two 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and two 8-hour shifts from 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and 3 holidays per year requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfers or emergencies. Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc. Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight and height. Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction and removing urinary Foley Catheters. Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner. Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge. Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly. Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area. Document patient care in the electronic medical record. Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, report equipment that is out of order, clean equipment and inventory and distribute unit linen and supplies. Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
