The primary purpose of the CNA Certified Nurse Aide position is to assume the responsibility of providing the highest level of quality nursing care for specific residents as prescribed by the physician’s orders, the care plan, and other recognized sources and in accordance to facility policies and procedures.

CNA Certified Nurse Aide Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete duties as assigned to the CNA Certified Nurse Aide or directed by the Charge Nurse, Unit Manager or Supervisor.

• Follow written and oral directions.

• Perform walking rounds with previous and oncoming shift as assigned.

• Check vital-signs - temperature, pulse respirations and blood pressure.

• Administer care - dressing/undressing, toileting, tub baths/shower/bed baths, nail care, grooming, hygiene and special skin care.

• Provide for mobility by assisting residents to change position in bed, to ambulate, and to use assistive devices such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs.

• Assist residents to have adequate food and fluid intake by feeding residents as needed, recording intake and output, serving trays, distributing between meal nourishment, and offering hydration cart.

• Report residents’ needs and concerns to a licensed nurse.

CNA Certified Nurse Aide Requirements:

• Must have successfully completed a Nursing Assistant training course

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification from the State of Pennsylvania.
