JOB SUMMARY

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and/or advanced practitioner, including preparing patients to be seen by the physician and/or advanced practitioner, and perform specific procedures with appropriate orientation and supervision. Assists with patient phone calls, prescription refills, referrals, and prior authorizations. Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure: Current CPR certification required. Graduated from a Medical Assistant program, accredited by the Commission on accreditation of Allied Health Education Program preferred. Test and pass the National Certification exam (AAMA, NHA, NCCT) to be certified as Medical Assistant required.

Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

Skills: Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, advanced practitioners and staff members. Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions, policies, guidelines and standards. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Intermediate Proficiency level with Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
