Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN)-Nights & Weekends is prepared to handle all on-going needs, in addition to urgent needs of patients and their families after hours in their homes or facility. The RN Nights & Weekends follows the established care plan of the patient while ensuring comfort care to the patient and support to family members.

Location: Falls Church, Arlington, Alexandria

Schedule: Every other weekend days , some nights and some holidays.

COVID-19 vaccine required to be completed upon start.

Responsibilities

The RN Nights & Weekends visits patients with emergent, critical needs in a timely manner. The RN Nights & Weekends arranges for, teaches, and supervises nursing care of patients in home care and facility settings in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team. The RN Nights & Weekends makes nursing assessments and uses critical thinking skills to provide care based on evidence-based practice, within scope of practice. May be asked to rotate to other regions/departments.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

Must have one year of staff nurse experience in a comparable setting/unit. Hospice and/or palliative care experience is strongly preferred.

Education Requirements:

Must have a degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.

Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:

Requires licensure from the governing body of practice for the District of Columbia, State of Maryland, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia, based on the state/jurisdiction of practice; or licensure from compact state. Healthcare Provider BLS (CPR) is required to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. A CHPN certification is a plus.

Driver's License:

Must have driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle during working hours.

The Clinical RN III (CP&A) will be responsible to plan, assess and implement nursing care based on sound nursing judgements based on patient needs. Provide professional nursing care for physician's office patients following established standards and practices. Work collaboratively with physicians and staff in delivery of patient care. Continue to expand clinical base of nursing knowledge and skills. All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, Children's National Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
