Position Type: Student Support Services/School Health Office Date Posted: 3/9/2026 Location: Dos Rios Elementary School (High-Needs School) Date Available: ASAP Job Description Union Elementary School District - AZ Licensed Practical Nurse Purpose The job of Licensed Practical Nurse is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for administering first aid and dispensing prescribed medications under the direction of a health care professional; coordinating with other personnel in supporting all students; documenting activities in accordance with established guidelines and/or regulatory requirements; and assisting health care professionals in scheduling prescribed health screenings and services. This job reports to Assigned Administrator Essential Functions Administers emergency first aid and scheduled medication to students under the direction of health professional (e.g. nausea, shortness of breath, seizures, dizziness, headaches, sprains, etc.) for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs. Advises assigned administrator of observations involving students' safety, abuse (physical, sexual, drug, etc.) and other health related issues for the purpose of identifying problems, referring for proper treatment and complying with legal requirements. Attends meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of gathering information required to perform functions. Completes health screenings (e.g. lice, vision, hearing, dental, scoliosis, height/weight, migrant children's screening, sports physicals, dental, diabetic care plans for insulin, etc.) for the purpose of identifying health concerns and/or delivering school health services in compliance with established guidelines. Issues health alerts under the guidance of the supervisor (e.g. parents and staff, etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary health information to personnel and parents. Maintains inventory of medications and office supplies for the purpose of ensuring items availability as needed. Maintains student health informational records (e.g. prescription dispensing log, medical emergency cards, etc.) for the purpose of providing information required by regulatory requirements, and state compliance. Monitors students referred to the health room for the purpose of ensuring their safety and/or referring to a medical professional for review and services. Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. data entry of medical alert status, immunization records, withdrawing students, daily medication task list, input of new student immunizations, input of vitals and assessment health notes, state reports, etc.) for the purpose of supporting health services activities and processes to maintain compliance. Refers students requiring further medical attention (e.g. pregnancy, etc.) for the purpose of providing information on available follow-up treatment and services. Reports incidents (e.g. suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies. Supports the implementation of individual health plans for individual students as needed (e.g. toileting, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: emergency first aid/CPR procedures; safety practices and procedures; health standards; and reporting procedures. Position Type: Student Support Services/School Health Office Date Posted: 3/9/2026 Location: District Wide (High-Needs School) Job Description Union Elementary School District - AZ Registered Nurse Purpose The Registered Nurse will give leadership and guidance to the district staff in the development and maintenance of the District's Health Services Programs. The Registered Nurse will be available for consultation with the health services staff and principals to orient them to the expectations and functions of health services. The Registered Nurse will also perform school nursing duties, as needed. The Registered Nurse will coordinate all professional development for the school nurses including certification for vision training, hearing training, and CPR/First aid. The Registered Nurse will be the district liaison to the Department of Health Services and to other administrative staff concerning the medical needs of our students. Essential Functions Analyzing and Planning to meet health needs for the purpose of incorporating objectives of the district, Community needs, and available resources. Coordinating and assisting with District vision, hearing, scoliosis, and height/weight screenings and immunizations for the purpose of identifying student needs. Determining health equipment/supply needs for campus nurses for the purpose of maintaining appropriate resources are maintained in health offices. Developing methods/procedures and a system of reporting for the purpose of ensuring effective performance. Developing and providing training and in services regarding health related matters to school health offices and district office staff for the purpose of staying up to date on current guidelines. Oversight of school nurses for the purpose of participating in screening and hiring, providing input to evaluation, resolving staff conflicts, and monitoring work performance. Planning and implementing periodic assessment of the District's Health Program for the purpose of ensuring compliance and proper oversight of the District Health Program. Providing health resources for staff, parents, teachers, and entire district staff for the purpose of informing on latest guidance.
