Nurse Practitioners work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The nurse practitioner also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The nurse practitioner will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital. Minimum Qualifications: Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program . Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience required. 1 year experience in pediatrics required; 2 years’ experience preferred. Current LA APRN license. Current PALS and BLS certifications upon hire. PALS Instructor Certification and NRP obtained within 12 months of hire. Certifications may be through any International Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Able to proficiently perform initial and subsequent assessments on pediatric patients. Able to effectively lead pediatric resuscitation teams. He/she is employed by St. Tammany Health System (STHS) for the purpose of coordinating care of hospitalized patients. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse -Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Lead Hospital Medicine physician and in association with members of the Hospitalist team in the evaluation, treatment and care coordination of the hospitalized patient in the provider role. A formal collaborative agreement is a requirement. The major area of responsibility is addressing patient clinical issues while hospitalized (floor call) and supporting physicians with the admission of patients to the hospital from emergency room or direct admissions. He/she will work primarily the night shift and alternate other shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as indicated. Major areas of responsibilities include in-house management of the critical and non-critical patients in the Intensive Care Unit, participation in multidisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives. Required to work rotating 12 hour - 7 on / 7 off shifts which include weekends and/or holidays as indicated with fixed nights or days. The primary duties include: Perform comprehensive assessments and develop differential diagnoses for critically ill patients. Manage complex, multi- organ system failure and implement critical care protocols under the supervision and collaboration of the attending physician. The APRN exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical processes, procedures and protocols depending on level of expertise. Provides patient centered care while ensuring accurate HCC documentation to reflect clinical complexity and optimize reimbursement. Nurse Practitioners work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The nurse practitioner also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The nurse practitioner will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital. Required to work primarily the day shift Monday – Friday. This position will also coordinate with hospital leaders, physicians, anesthesiologists, and other multidisciplinary teams to oversee and coordinate the care of the patient.
