JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Work Shift: Either 8:00am to 4:30p or 8:30a to 5p

Job Summary:

The Manager of Business Operations is responsible for the financial management of the Surgical Services perioperative areas which include the main facility and the St Tammany Health System Surgery Center. Provides financial support to the Directors of Surgical Services to include financial reports, budgets, labor efficiency analysis, cost, revenue and reimbursement analysis, contracts, and identification/prioritization of capital needs. Works in collaboration with Materials, Finance, Revenue Cycle Management, Hospital and Dept analysts, & the legal department for contract review.

Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, CMS coding guidelines and reimbursement IP and OP, and St Tammany Health System (STHS) policies while supporting the strategic goals of the organization and the growth and profitability of the surgery business.

Main Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis/Reporting
Physician and Vendor relationship building

Minimum Qualifications:

Clinical Education:

Surgical Technologist or RN with a minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in the Operating Room or circulating required.
Experience in a hospital / surgical setting preferred.

Degree: Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field.
Post graduate degree (preferably an MBA).

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Software is required
Strong leadership, organizational skills, and team management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Problem solving and decision making.
Proficient in software within a time frame of orientation/education

The First Assistant practices in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience. The Surgical First Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. This role will vary considerably with the surgical operation and specialty. Clinical skills performed under direct supervision of the surgeon may include the following: positioning the patient, preparing the skin, providing visualization of the operative site, utilizing appropriate techniques to assist with hemostasis, utilizing appropriate techniques to assist with closure of body planes, assisting with selecting and applying appropriate wound dressings and providing assistance in securing drainage system to tissue. If this employee has a formal background as a RN, this employee will function as a First Assistant or Circulator according to the needs of the department/ staffing assignment. If this employee has a formal background as a Surgical Technologist, this employee will function as a First Assistant or a Surgical Technologist according to the needs of the department/ staffing assignment.
