Director of Nursing (DON)

The Director of Nursing (DON) plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Manage and allocate nursing resources, including staffing, budgeting, and equipment procurement. Collaborate with other healthcare leaders to drive organizational goals and foster a culture of teamwork and excellence. Clinical Oversight: Ensure that nursing staff deliver high-quality care and adhere to established standards and guidelines. Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and nursing performance, making necessary improvements. Implement and oversee quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction. Stay updated on advances in nursing practice and technology to facilitate evidence-based care. Staff Development: Train and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional growth and development. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to ensure a competent and motivated nursing team. Promote ongoing education and certification for nursing staff to maintain and enhance skills. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and licensure requirements. Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and surveys, addressing any deficiencies promptly. Maintain accurate records and documentation to meet legal and regulatory obligations. Patient Advocacy and Communication: Serve as an advocate for patients, addressing their needs and concerns. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information and support. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and transitions. Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Company & Job Description Overview: Southwest Montana Veteran's Home is currently searching for a dedicated ADON (Assistant Director of Nursing) to join our team! The primary purpose of the ADON is to assist in the planning, organizing, development, and direction or the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with the guidelines and regulations that govern the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times while delivering on the Eduro HealthCare Values of wellness, compassion, customer experience and company results. **Daily Pay Available** ADON Responsibilities: Assist DON in managing clinical operations of the nursing department. Develop nursing programs to ensure quality patient services. Plan and assign workload to nursing staff on shift basis. Supervise and guide nursing staff on their daily job duties. Ensure nursing staff follow department procedures and policies. Address patient complaints promptly to ensure patient satisfaction. Ensure that nursing staff perform assigned duties accurately and timely. Provide job training to nursing staff to meet department goals. Ensure that nursing programs comply with federal, state and local standards. ADON Requirements: Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state employed. Previous experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing and experience in working with geriatric residents is preferred. Successful completion of a training and competency evaluation program required. Completion of orientation required by company policy. Health screening and TB test (if required) within two weeks of employment. Mandatory drug test within 90 days of hire. Must be free of criminal activity proven by a criminal background check. Show within three (3) days of hire satisfactory evidence of identity and eligibility for employment. Receive reports at the beginning of each shift. Assess the physical and emotional status of each resident and evaluate their need for continued or immediate care. Delegate responsibility for the direct care of each resident to appropriate nursing personnel according to needs, physical layout of care areas and staff ability. Be responsible for all phases of direct resident care, within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act. Ensure that nursing staff perform all restorative measures recommended in the plan of care and required by each resident’s condition. Report all incidents of change in resident’s condition to the Director of Nursing. Assist physicians on rounds and keep them informed of the status of each resident, changes in condition and medical emergencies. Plan working schedule to allow for education, supervision, and evaluations of performance for all nursing personnel during the shift. Maintain completeness of resident charts and individual care plans, making sure entries are timely, informative, and descriptive of resident’s condition. Write daily nursing notes on all skilled residents, and monthly summary notes on each resident according to posted schedule. Be responsible for timely execution of all physician orders, including laboratory testing, specialized therapy orders, and preparation and administration of all medications as indicated.
