Registered Nurse ( RN ) Supervisor Major Duties and Critical Tasks: Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and directs nursing services for residents on the floor assigned. Ensures compliance with current applicable federal, state and local regulations and facility policies and procedures. Reviews complaints and grievances made or filed by staff. Makes appropriate reports to the Director of Nursing as required or as necessary. Ensures an adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc., is always maintained on the unit to adequately meet the needs of the resident and notifies appropriate personnel of needs. Assists in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident. Makes nursing/aide assignments as indicated. Encourages staff to attend and participate in outside training programs and schedules times as appropriate. Registered Nurse ( RN ) Supervisor Education and Experience: A nursing degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing direct care in long-term care, restorative or geriatric settings as an Minimum one (1) year of experience as a nursing supervisor, preferably in a nursing home setting Current CPR Certification. Must also meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license.

He or she will relate effectively with other shifts for continuity of care and in the absence of the ADON and Director of Nursing will take charge. RN Unit Manager Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in interpreting facility policy and state law as related to the nursing services. Participates in facility safety procedures and programs. Informs the ADON of nursing activities, needs, problems, and unusual events. Recommends the purchase of supplies and equipment required for the nursing service. Makes routine nursing service checks on staff, timecards, equipment, materials, supplies, etc. Makes recommendations to the ADON and Director of Nursing to hire, promote, suspend, and terminate nursing service employees. Assists with in-service education programs and follows up to evaluate effectiveness and to determine the need for revision of methods and materials. Investigates and reports complaints. Charge the Floor in the absence of charge nurse/assist charge nurse with daily duties as needed.

Delivers nursing care to patients/residents requiring long-term or rehabilitative care. Collects patient/resident data, makes observations, and reports pertinent information related to the care of the patient/resident. According to state-specific regulations, implements the patient/resident plan of care and evaluates the patient/resident response. In accordance with state-specific regulations, directs and supervises care given by other nursing personnel in selected situations. Maintains knowledge of necessary documentation requirements. Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance and use, i.e., monitors, infusion devices, drain devices, etc. Maintains confidentiality and patient/resident rights, regarding all patient/resident/ personnel information.
