The Unit Manager (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized Patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process; collaborating with Physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to Patients, Friends, and Families; and supervising assigned team members. The Unit Manager, RN is responsible to the Clinical Manager for the assigned Department. Duties and Responsibilities: Deliver patient care through the facility Nurse activities. Administer medicines and intravenous fluids to patients as ordered by Physicians. Change wound dressings and care for other treatment options. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate Consult with supervisors and Doctors to decide on the best treatment plan for patients Monitor blood pressures, temperatures and vital signs at regular intervals. Operate oxygen apparatus, Spiro meters and other diagnosis equipment. Observe and report all symptoms and reactions of patients to treatment interventions. Assist and support Physician or Doctor in patient care deliveries. Direct and supervise Nurses, Nurse Assistants and Nurse Aides. Follow established Nursing guidelines and regulations in patient care delivery issues. Requirements: Education: BS in Nursing. An Associate's degree in Nursing with applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a BS. NYS license in Nursing with current registration is preferred. Experience: Previous Long term Experience is preferable. Good investigative skills. Ability to write, educate and work independently. Full Job Description Ditmas Children’s Nursing and Rehab is an inpatient subacute pediatric facility that specializes in treating medically complex children from birth to 21 years. Ditmas prioritizes interdisciplinary collaboration between nursing, medical, respiratory, recreation, and rehab. Within this 21- bed unit we care for every child with individualized treatment approaches. Children may be admitted to the facility with medical goals and rehab goals alike. We see children with various needs and conditions such as genetic, neurological, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and orthopedic. Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a mid-level health care provider, who works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team and is responsible for providing direct comprehensive care to patients and supervision of ancillary staff. The NP educates the patient, family/significant other by promoting wellness, preventing health care problems, maintaining current health status, and intervening in acute or chronic illness. Responsibilities: Performs A Comprehensive Functional Assessment Of The Patients Based On Age And History. Included Are Assessing The Physical And Psychological Status Of The Patient By Means Of Interview, Health History, Physical/Functional Examination And Diagnostic Tests Manages Patient Care Which Includes: Performing Comprehensive Assessment, Formulating Diagnostic Planning In Accordance With Medical Protocols. Refer Patients To Clinics Or Subspecialties And Community Resources When Appropriate. Act As A Consultant With The Physician Prepares, Administers, Implements And Evaluates The Health Care Plan; Develops And Implements Individualized Treatment Plans Prescribes Medication, Safely, Efficiently, And Effectively Using The NP License Number In Accordance With The New York State Education Law 6910 Participates In Patient Education For Individuals And/Or Families Related To Functional Health Status.
