Certified Surgical Technician ​Assists with basic nursing care and preparation of surgical patients of all ages under the direct supervision of the staff nurse assigned. Assists in identifying patient needs based on age specific data. Selects appropriate instruments and supplies and sets up tables as required for specific operations. Prepares and maintains the sterile field for all surgical procedures. Prepares and passes instruments, sponges, and supplies needed in the operative procedure and maintains a correct count. Functions as a member of the sterile team. Performs other duties as assigned. Employment Type: Part time Shift: Day Shift Description: Shift : Days What you will do: Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional procedures on scheduled shifts including emergency callback, operates angiographic equipment. Provides care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional, and environmental health problems. Maintains open and positive communication with staff, physicians, and other departments. Instructs, supervises, and evaluates student technologists. Presents a positive image to community and professional contacts. Promotes professionalism with the department, hospital, and community; acts as a role model. Maintains intra-arterial access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Receives, relays and documents verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient’s medical record. Corroborates a patient’s clinical history with procedure and ensuring information is documented. Qualifications: Successful completion of an accredited two-year Radiologic Technology program. Maintains active registry status in ARRT. Maintains current Iowa Permit to Practice. Two years’ experience preferred. Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
