Job Summary and Qualifications The Cath Lab Tech Extern will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to the field of Cardiac Catheterization while assisting our Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technologists in their daily duties. This position is ideal for students currently enrolled in a Cardiac Catheterization program who wish to supplement their education with practical experience in a clinical setting. Please note that as a Cath Lab Extern, you will not be permitted to perform the full duties of a licensed Cath Lab Technologist, as required by law. This externship is designed to provide valuable training, exposure, and learning opportunities while assisting our Cath Lab team What you will do in this role: Shadow and observe licensed Cath lab technologists, learning proper techniques and protocols Assist in preparing and maintaining sterile Cath lab environment Help position patients under direct supervision of licensed staff Monitor and maintain Cath lab equipment and supplies Provide basic patient care and comfort, such as answering questions, providing reassurance, and ensuring patient privacy. Observe and learn proper safety practices and procedures. Participating in educational sessions and training opportunities Follow infection control and safety guidelines Promotes consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service. Demonstrates caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions. What qualifications you will need: Basic Cardiac Life Support (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date Corpus Christi Medical Center is a 630+ bed healthcare system of hospitals in Corpus Christi and the surrounding Coastal Bend community. Northshore Emergency Center is a full-service 24-7 emergency department in Portland that offers outpatient laboratory, imaging and occupational services.
