This position is responsible for stepping into various nursing home locations as needed, either as an interim director of nursing during vacancies or to assist/lead in special projects . The role requires flexibility , a comprehensive understanding of long-term care clinical operations , and the ability to adapt quickly to various organizational cultures and operational structures. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Interim Leadership: Step into nursing home Director of Nursing roles on a temporary basis to ensure seamless clinical operations during transitions, vacancies, or planned leaves of absence. Manage daily clinical operations , ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements , including state and federal guidelines. Oversee clinical staff management , including recruitment, training, and performance management. Maintain the quality of care for residents, addressing any issues or concerns that arise. Ensure effective communication between leadership, staff, residents, and families. Review and enforce policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of care and operations. Coordinate with other department heads to address needs. Resident and Family Relations: Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff to create a supportive and nurturing environment . Address any resident concerns or family inquiries promptly and professionally . Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing long-term care facilities. Lead facility audits and inspections , preparing for and addressing any deficiencies. Qualifications: Licensure: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state license. Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience as a Nursing Home Director of Nursing Experience managing clinical operations in multiple facilities or settings is highly desirable. Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills , both written and verbal Ability to navigate complex situations with tact and diplomacy Proven ability to manage staff and build effective teams Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations Other Requirements: Flexibility to travel between facilities as needed Ability to quickly adjust to new environments and leadership styles Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities Work Environment: Must be able to work in various long-term care settings , adapting to different staff dynamics, facility needs, and operational challenges. Serve as Manager on Duty one weekend per month (weekday take-back provided). Coordinate with hospitals and external providers to capture accurate information in the MDS. Conduct chart audits and provide recommendations based on observations and nursing documentation reviews. Qualifications (RN) Minimum 3 years of experience as an MDS Coordinator (required). Active CPR certification . Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
