Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager that each neighborhood provide safe, appropriate and goal-directed care and to provide support and direct nursing staff. To be familiar with all policies and procedures. Be able to seek appropriate guidance as needed. Work in collaboration with medical doctors in emergent situations and support and promote family centered care and maintain effective communication with family members. The RN Supervisor will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of a 3-4 days/week including weekends. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills in change management, emotional intelligence and demonstrated leadership experience in a residential or behavioral health setting. The RN Supervisor will be included in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to ensure continuity of systems and protocols are maintained through the entire week. Uses SBAR and other tools, such as 24 hours report to objectively document resident/family concerns Manages night medication cabinet and seeks solutions to obtain medication for residents if needed. Attends management meetings as required, this includes Operations Meetings and other Management Training as scheduled Rounds on Neighborhoods for the purpose of obtaining clinical information on residents, to support and educate staff, to assist with family issues and endorses complete information to next shift. Promotes 24 x7 accurate, objective clinical and administrative reports. Follow-up on status of residents transferred to other facilities and reports follow up to oncoming shift, Team Leader and physician Communicates effectively with Center Departments regarding resident/family needs on tour of duty and documents communication in a clear and concise manner. Qualifications Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program B.S. N. (required); M.S.N. preferred NYS RN License and RN Registration Certificate (required) BCLS certificate (required) PALS certification preferred Completion of courses mandated for continuation of RN license, (ex. Infection Control course; Child Abuse course.) Experience Minimum of two years pediatric experience. Minimum of three years experience in supervisory role. How you make a difference The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role is responsible for managing the sick-call process for inmate patients at the facility. They must ensure that inmates receive medical, mental health, or dental services within the appropriate timeframe and refer them to specialty providers as needed. The RN will work closely with other healthcare providers and follow established policies and procedures to provide optimal care for patients. Key Responsibilities Review and triage inmate sick call requests, sorting them by emergent and non-emergent status. Maintain a detailed log of all sick call requests and ensure they meet facility policy and accreditation timeframes. Use physician-approved nursing protocols for care and treatment and document all inmate contacts while maintaining confidentiality of medical records. Refer inmate patients to medical providers if medically indicated, and evaluate symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients in the sick call process. Occupational Health Responsibilities Manages and supports the Occupational Health Coordinator’s role, as needed Assists with pre-employment testing and vaccination processes, annual N95/TB/ Influenza testing and/or vaccinations, and the management of potential blood exposures, employee illnesses and disease outbreaks. Responds to employee’s health needs and provides basic care including, but not limited to pain relief medication, blood pressure and glucose monitoring. Determine employee’s ability to continue to work and advise management/staffing as necessary. Assess documentation of employees returning from medical leave/absence and provides authorization for return to work. Advises department manager/staffing as necessary. Performs Covid testing, as needed, on symptomatic employees and/or visitors Communicates Infection Control policies regarding Isolation Time required post illness, specifically for Covid-19 and Influenza, including test result documentation and Contact Tracing Responds to employees with potential blood borne pathogens exposure, in accordance with OSHA guidelines, and assures the employee receives medical treatment if needed. Provides initial assessment of employee work related injuries when appropriate and assures the employee receives medical treatment if needed. Coordinate transfer to higher level of care as needed and provides required documentation to Human Resources. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager that each neighborhood provide safe, appropriate and goal-directed care and to provide support and direct nursing staff. Work in collaboration with medical doctors in emergent situations and support and promote family centered care and maintain effective communication with family members. The RN Supervisor will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of a 3-4 days/week including weekends. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills in change management, emotional intelligence and demonstrated leadership experience in a residential or behavioral health setting. The RN Supervisor will be included in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to ensure continuity of systems and protocols are maintained through the entire week.
