The Cardiovascular RN provides direct nursing care to both in and out-patients during cardiac stress testing, transesophageal echocardiograms, tilt table tests, electrical cardioversion, and other procedures performed in the Cardiology Service Line. The Cardiovascular RN utilizes a high level of knowledge of cardiac or chemical stress testing and effectively communicates issues with physicians. The RN will interpret data received before the procedure and use nursing judgment that is in line with safety protocols. The Cardiac Nurse must be self-directed and act independently and intervene as appropriate to resolve issues. The Cardiovascular RN is responsible for implementing the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, policies, and procedures of Cardiac Services under the supervision of the Cardiologist. In addition, the nurse monitors on-going needs of patients to ensure efficient and effective access to services and apprises radiologists and supervisory personnel of patient(s) status; provides viable and innovative solutions to problems; attends meetings/training, adheres to approved policy/procedures, represents the hospital in a professional manner, makes effective presentations.
