Overview Clinical Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, Non-Malignant Hematology , on the Full Time Clinical Faculty pathway with an approximate 80:20 contribution to clinical service and academic pursuits. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time clinical faculty member specializing in clinical care of patients with non-malignant hematologic disorders. This position will be at the Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UW. Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. This position will focus primarily on exceptional clinical care of patients with non-malignant hematologic disorders at a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center. The non-malignant hematology group is committed to providing outstanding patient care, and members of the non-malignant hematology disease program will be expected to be a part of the clinical and research mission of the program. The position may also involve participation in the administrative, research, and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division. Teaching responsibilities involve oversight of trainees during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, and lectures. The position will be based at the South Lake Union main campus, but there is the possibility that the incumbent could see patients at one of Fred Hutch’s community clinics. The primary, annual appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. Responsibilities What You'll Do: We are hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) who assesses consumers and documents pertinent information including Triage, Behavioral Health, Physical Health, and/or Substance Abuse issues. Demonstrates knowledge of Crisis Intervention and the ability to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations and will provide education to consumers and their families regarding Behavioral Health diagnosis, medications, and treatments. Completes detailed Nursing Assessments with individuals and documents pertinent information including Triage, Medical/Behavioral Health assessments, and medication administration utilizing appropriate assessment tools. Accurately record all medication brought in by individual on medication reconciliation/storage form. Plans individual treatment as part of the Multidisciplinary Clinical team. Provides education concerning Psychiatric diagnosis, treatment options, psychopharmacology, and overall health literacy to individuals, families, and all others involved in the individual’s care. Intervenes with appropriate verbal interventions to diffuse out of control or potentially dangerous behaviors. Demonstrates ability to effectively use therapeutic option theory and technique and can describe and demonstrate their roles and responsibilities. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Seclusion/Restraint standards, guidelines, techniques and initiates documentation and debriefing with individuals for any seclusion/restraint incidents as required. Accurately transcribes Provider orders and administers medications as prescribed. Attempts to have individual sign medication consent form. Performs chart checks and signs off as a second noted on medications prescribed. Draw labs and provide wound care as ordered by Providers when required. Completes nurse to nurse at discharge or when accepting individual from another facility. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications What You'll Bring: Graduated from an accredited Nursing program Unrestricted active license as Registered Professional Nurse through State Board of Nursing or hold a multistate licensure privilege Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques American Heart Association BLS The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy.
