Performs evaluation and treats acute patient problems, including but not limited to oncologic emergencies, chemotherapy related side effects, and complications from cancer diagnoses. Consults with physician and other medical specialties as necessary; adjusts processes as indicated Performs history, physical examination, analyzes data for appropriate diagnosis and treatment, initiates plans of care for inpatient and office consults in collaboration with the physician, and follows previously established plans of care for both oncology and hematology patients in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Collaborates with social services, nurse navigation, and dietary services to provide holistic patient care. Provides pre-treatment chemotherapy education to patients and their families in the office setting. Provides education to office staff as needed.
