LPN Job Description: Provide bedside care to patients including personal hygiene maintenance Record the patients’ vital signs (including blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate) Collect patient’s health information Relay information between patients, registered nurses, and physicians Give oral medications and injections to patients Test a patient’s blood sugar levels Urinary catheter insertion and care Wound care and dressing change Assist patients with personal hygiene Monitor for changes in patients Proper charting, documentation, and maintenance of patient’s medical records Asks questions when in doubt for clarification by the Registered Nurse. Acts as a role model for ancillary personnel. Maintains the confidentiality of the patient’s clinical records. LPN Requirements: Current LPN license in State. Records patients medical information and vital signs. Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays. Initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology Provides bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients. Changes dressings, insert catheters, starts IVs Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol Participates in discharge planning. Utilizes time management skills. Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms. Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting. RN Requirements: Current RN license in State. Up to date first aid and CPR certification.
