This person will provide and coordinate infusion activities to assure compassionate patient care. They will also promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach toward patients, families, and all members of the care delivery team. Responsibilities: · Monitor patients during treatment and provide the necessary education on how to manage conditions and follow-up care after release from healthcare facilities. · Demonstrate organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple patients with differing needs, stages of health, and risk. · Promote team concept through effective communication regarding patient’s condition, plan of care, and satisfaction with appropriate individuals who are involved in the patient’s care. · Directs patient’s support team members effectively and appropriately. · Demonstrates initiative and flexibility in the provision of patient care. · Demonstrate knowledge of treatments, policies/procedures, and equipment related to appropriate practice setting. · Evaluate ongoing assessment and revise plan of care based on new data and patient’s condition. · Perform direct patient care utilizing established policies, procedures, and standards. · Maintain 80% compliance with medication verification procedure. · Administer and monitor IV solutions and medications. · Start peripheral, peripherally inserted central catheters, and maintain central lines. · Demonstrate ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician orders and policies and procedures within a timely manner. · Provide personal patient care to provide comfort and well-being to the patient, acknowledging physiological and psychological needs. · Document accurate and ongoing assessment of patient status. Document patient care, which reflects nursing intervention, patient response to care provided, patient needs, problems, abilities, limitations, and progress toward goal. · Utilize only approved abbreviations in all documentation. · Follow all policies and procedures related to the documentation requirements. · Communicate and collaborate effectively with other health team members regarding patient’s condition, nursing plan of care, patient’s needs, and recommendations for meeting identified outcomes. · Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate person in a timely manner. · Identify and recognize abnormal symptoms/changes in patient’s condition, establish priorities, and take appropriate action. · Appropriately report condition changes to medical provider. · Attend or read the minutes of 100% of appropriate staff meetings. · Possess a working knowledge of medications and their correct administrations and the signs and symptoms of side effects. Know and follow the 5 R’s of administrating medications. · Demonstrate proficient technical/clinical skills and operational knowledge of equipment. · Recognize impending emergencies and respond appropriately. · Utilize proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques, and appropriate equipment to minimize fall risk to patient and injury to self. · Other duties as assigned by management. Requirements: · Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program. BS in nursing preferred. · ONS certification preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire with expectation to maintain certification while working in this role. · Prefer 3 years of medical/surgical experience, especially oncology experience. · Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska without restrictions. · Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
