Experience: One to three years clinical experience in clinical practice area, three to five years preferred. Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Strong analytical, data management and PC skills. Working knowledge of discharge planning, utilization management, case management, performance improvement and managed care reimbursement preferred. Unit Bio The NICU/CCN in The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital is a 51 bed level lll-lV unit. This is the largest ICU in the state of Maine. We have single rooms with state of the art equipment and work closely with all disciplines- surgical, cardiac, GI, genetics, renal, palliative care etc. We have Neonatologists and APP’s covering 24/7 with a nursing staff of 150. We have an active critical care transport team and a nurse driven PICC Team.Neonatal Intensive Care Unit -31 beds & Continuing Care Nursery - 20 Beds Summary The Certified Nursing Assistant II role assists in the administration of nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect care duties. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Certified Nursing Assistant required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Description Maine Medical Center Nursing Req #: 63086 This is a bargaining unit position Job Posting Date: 1/12/2026 R6 is a dynamic 24-bed neurosurgical / trauma unit with an embedded 9-bed neuro-focused Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Bean 2 is a fast-paced 12-bed Total Joint Center. This position offers the R6/B2 RN an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population in a supportive environment as an integral member of a collaborative team of highly trained staff. The R6 patient population includes adults and older adolescents with neurological and orthopedic conditions including closed head injuries, strokes, brain tumors, seizure disorders, multi-traumas, and conditions requiring neurosurgical intervention. RNs providing care in the R6 IMC demonstrate astute assessment and critical thinking skills, as patients in IMC often have multi-system issues that require telemetry monitoring, intra-cranial pressure monitoring, medication drips, frequent intervention, or other higher acuity care needs. The Bean 2 patient population consists of adults who have undergone joint replacement surgeries. This unit serves as the Joint Center for our nationally recognized and Joint Commission accredited joint replacement program. The RN on Bean 2 coordinates important milestones of care for each patient’s visit to facilitate a timely and safe discharge. This unit sees a high turnover of patients and consistently receives exceptional patient satisfaction scores. R6/IMC/B2 offers a challenging yet rewarding environment where teamwork, excellent communication, a positive attitude, and a proactive approach to provision of care is expected.
