CST Responsibilities: Scrubs and sets up instrumentation. Maintains aseptic technique at all times. Maintains awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damages or harm to personnel and patient. Assists with and anticipates the needs of the surgeon for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. Maintains correct count of sponges and needles with the circulating nurse and reports correctness and discrepancies. Observes and protects the patient before, during, and after the procedure. Covers call as policy dictates. Flexibility in adjusting duty hours to meet needs of department. CST Education and Experience Requirements: High School diploma required. Completion of approved Operating Room Technician Program required. Certification as Operating Room Technician required.
