The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Job Summary Acts as a Clinical Education generalist or may be assigned to a specific unit(s)/department. Works in collaboration with other clinical educators and clinical nurse specialists within the network and across the system to develop, coordinate and implement nursing, nursing support and inter-professional orientation, in-service education and staff development programs to promote safe and effective patient-centered care. Facilitates professional growth, skill development, competency and attainment of standards of care for direct care within patient care services, PHMG and or Ambulatory care Services. Serves as a leader and role model in advancing clinical practice to achieve better patient outcomes. Essential Functions Acts as a resource to all caregivers regarding nursing, professional practice and use of equipment/ supplies in area of expertise. Assists in the design and implementation of nursing education programs, activities or new process/equipment using PeaceHealth training standards, processes, templates and course documentation forms. Participates on teams and partners on development of standardized cross-regional clinical, nursing or quality guidelines, protocols or training curriculum in area of expertise. Coordinates and provides department-specific orientation for newly hired nursing and clinical staff. Conducts learning needs assessment, facilitates practice and process changes in assigned area of expertise. Evaluates competency and identifies team or individual caregiver performance gaps. . Designs learning experiences and action plans to assist those requiring remediation to meet competency expectations. Researches best practice to promote evidence-based practice. Assesses caregiver engagement, patient quality indicators and evaluates education effectiveness to achieve clinical excellence. Ensures training and competency are documented using standard tools and learning management systems (LMS). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Accredited School of Nursing Required: through State Board of Nursing approved program and Bachelor's Degree Required: Nursing and Master's Degree Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing or Master's Degree Preferred: Education Experience Minimum of 3 years Required: experience as an RN and Minimum of 3 years Required: recent experience in an education or an equivalent Preceptor role for varied audiences Credentials Required: Registered Nurse in the state of practice and Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support and May be required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support and May be required: Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Preferred: Nursing Professional Development Certification Skills Demonstrated ability to design and implement instructional modules and use a variety of educational methods (Required) Proficient in the use of MS Office applications and a variety of equipment or technology tools (Required) Ability to engage learners and apply adult learning techniques (Required) Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Required) Working Conditions Lifting Consistently operates computer and other office equipment. Summary Occasionally JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE In collaboration with clinical specialty and site leadership, staff, and Professional Development, designs, plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates clinical education programs to advance the Samaritan Health Services (SHS) healthcare teams’ clinical practice within designated clinical department(s). Supports system processes at the department level for staff orientation, competency assessment and development, ongoing education, implementation of best practices, culture of safety, development of policies and procedures, and use of the electronic health record. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Emergency Department provides care for patients with a wide variety of needs from non-critical to emergent medical conditions including emergent and urgent mental health care. All patients are welcome whether walking in or arriving by emergency transport. All Emergency Department staff are certified to care for critical cardiac and trauma patients including children. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS Current unencumbered Oregon RN Licensure required. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent experience required. Healthcare Provider BLS required upon hire. Three (3) years of direct care nursing experience in applicable specialty required. Certification in applicable specialty within one (1) year of hire required. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, preferred. Summary Occasionally JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Collaborates with the team members to develop and implement teaching plans and patient education materials based on national standards for patients of varying ages with diabetes, gestational diabetes, or pre-diabetes. Assists in development of educational programs for staff, support groups, students, interns and others as needed. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Samaritan’s Nationally Accredited Diabetes Education Programs utilize the advanced knowledge and skills of their interdisciplinary team - made of RN’s and RD’s who collaborate to offer group and individual appointments for education, medication management, behavior change, as well as working with physicians to better manage their patients and families with diabetes and serving as a resource for those interested in the most current diabetes treatment strategies. The department also plays an integral role in the hospital setting as well, working with hospital staff in the care and management of people with diabetes while hospitalized. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS One (1) of the following required: Current unencumbered Oregon RN license. Graduate of accredited dietetic program in university or college, with completion of accredited dietetic internship. Current unencumbered Oregon Dietetic Licensure/Registered Dietitian through the CDR or RD eligible. If RD eligible, must obtain Registered Dietitian and Oregon Dietitian License within six (6) months from date of hire. Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE/CDCES) within three (3) years of hire required. Healthcare Provider BLS required. Bachelor's degree, membership in a professional organization and prior teaching experience preferred. Three (3) years clinical experience as an RN or RD, with emphasis on providing care to patients with diabetes and/or chronic disease management preferred.
