We are hiring Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) to join our dynamic care team at Berkshire Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Sandisfield! Openings on 7a-3p, 3p-11p, and 11p-7a with weekly pay and shift differentials. Includes every other weekend. Full-time and part-time openings. As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) the primary purpose of your job position is to provide your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care in accordance with our established nursing care procedures, and as may be directed by the licensed staff nurse. Experience & Education: Must possess an active and unencumbered CNA license in Massachusetts, or be in the process of obtaining one. New graduates welcome! Duties & Responsibilities: Meet the nursing and rehabilitation needs of each resident. Participate in planning and following current resident care plan on all residents under his/her care. Complete resident assignments effectively and promptly. Observe changes in resident conditions and promptly report them. Document accurately and completely. Meet personal grooming needs for each resident. Promptly answer call lights and assure that all are placed within reach of the resident. Assure the resident care areas are left clean and in an orderly manner. Methods of identification of residents are maintained. Maintain that all residents are appropriately identified (i.e., I.D. bracelets, etc.). Demonstrate correct safety techniques in accord with orientation and training processes of Athena and your specific job description. Other duties assigned by manager. Specific Requirements: Must have knowledge of restorative nursing and rehabilitation policies and utilize appropriately. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents. Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required - bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching above the shoulders are involved. • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics/equipment that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Mechanical devices are provided and are required to assist in proper lifting techniques. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Observes residents and reports any unusual condition, accident, or incident to nurse. 2. Assists in any accident and incident investigations. 3. Participates in informal/formal resident care meetings as requested by charge nurse and/or Supervisor. 4. Performs duties as instructed by written assignment which includes resident care to be provided i.e., activities of daily living – grooming and hygiene, transferring, ambulation, and proper body alignment, transporting to activities and scheduled appointments. 5. Assists with serving meals, feeding residents and meal documentation. 6. Maintains orderly resident rooms and assures that the call cords are safely accessible for residents. 7. Makes rounds on assigned residents at the beginning and throughout the shift. 8. Cares for clean and soiled linen. 9. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and Nursing policies and procedures. 10. Assists in the orientation of training of new certified nursing assistants within the facility as necessary. 11. Attends CNA meetings held by DNS/ADNS. 12. Operates and maintains equipment in a safe manner. Reports any malfunctions or equipment failures in a timely manner. 13. Performs other related duties and attends meetings as may be deemed necessary by Supervisor / Administrator and or Director.
