Job Summary Seeking a compassionate Caregiver to provide personal care and companion care for an older gentleman living in Arlington. He has Parkinson's and early dementia, and will require assistance with transfers and for showering as he is a fall risk. Assistance with meal preparation and medication reminders. He lives in an apartment with his wife who needs help caring for him, especially while she is out running errands. Shifts are initially starting Tuesday and Thursday, 10am to 2pm with the expectation of additional hours. Some light housekeeping, grocery shopping and transportation to appointments may be required. Client and his wife are well traveled and enjoy different cultures. Caregiver must have reliable transportation. CNA license is highly desirable, CNA certificates will be considered. Benefits: Starting rate between $18 to $22 per hour based on licensing and experience. Signing bonus of $750 Time and a half for major holidays. Job Responsibilities Must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations: Follows the instructions of the RN Supervisor in providing personal assistance services. Observe and report any safety hazards found in the client’s home or any significant observations regarding the client. Attend staff meetings, attend/complete 12 hours of annual in-services, and participates in orientation of new employees. Report client complaints to the RN Supervisor. Report abnormal findings in client’s conditions as observed and per care plan to RN. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: Two years of experience as a Caregiver. CNA license is highly desirable, CNA certificates will be considered. Job Description The Caregiver @ The Fitzgerald is responsible for the delivery of quality care by encouraging independence and ensuring each resident’s physical, social, cultural, and intellectual well-being. Availble Shifts: Part Time 1st Shift What will I do every day? Assist residents with simple requests as needed Supervise or assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, ambulation and other activities Provide companionship and develop strong resident relations Respond to emergencies according to policies and procedures Document care provided to residents consistent Provide input to assure that resident individual service plans are current Review 24 hour report and care check lists regularly What will I need to be successful in this role? Bring a smile to work every day Be a great team player High school education or GED equivalent preferred DC CNA License required Special Requirements/Certifications I may need?
