A successful Clinical Research Coordinator I requires specialized knowledge and skills that are acquired through experience and/or education. This position should be extramurally funded therefore continued employment is largely dependent on the availability of funds in addition to satisfactory performance. EDUCATION: Associates Degree required or equivalent technical certification (e.g., EMT, EKG Technician, Medical Assistant). Bachelor degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: No prior research experience necessary. Some experience in a clinical setting is preferred, but not required unless the candidate does not have an Associates Degree. This is a grant funded position.This is a bargaining union position.
Overview Full-time/Days/40 hours per week No weekends/No IUH observed holidays Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Location: 11725 N. Illinois St., Suite 465 Carmel, IN 46032 Work Duties Room patients for providers, including obtaining vitals, updating medication lists, and documenting the reason for visit. Typically support up to 3 providers per day, with an occasional 4th provider for a morning shift (rare). Administer biologic injections. Administer allergy injections (training provided). Perform routine exam room stocking, ensuring all supplies are replenished daily. Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, including wiping down surfaces and preparing rooms between patients. Assist with minor procedure preparation as needed. Support smooth clinic workflow by communicating patient readiness to providers. Document clinical tasks accurately in the EHR. Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction to provide patient care given in accordance with the organization standards. Assures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, assures smooth patient flow, performs general lab work, instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs, and ensures medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Performs registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures. Maintains EMR files and performs general front office functions as needed. May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician. Expected to precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership. AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required. Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC). Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required. TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred. Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures. Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers. Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists. Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.

Responsibilities Assist with patient care under the direction of physicians. Prepare patients for office visits and procedures. Preforms a variety of patient care activities, such as vaccine/medication administration, phlebotomy, and point of care testing. Provides indirect patient care via phone or EHR by addressing patient questions, processing medication refills and scheduling follow-up appointments. Utilize electronic health record for efficient care. Qualifications One year experience as a clinic back office medical assistant preferred. Education: Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent experience; or Completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces; or Completion of Basic or Advanced Oregon Emergency Medical Technician program (Oregon only) Licensure MA certification required within one year, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). MA certification requirement may be met instead by current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license and national EMT registration (NREMT). Oregon only. Washington State certification as a MA or Interim MA required for all who work or float in Washington. Current BLS for Providers from the American Heart Association.
