Description:

The Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse- DPC RN is a licensed professional able to demonstrate the following proficiency and mastery of the core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership and service who delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing and promoting evidence based practice standards of quality, safety and service. Current IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) Certification required. The clinical practice of the lactation consultant focuses on providing lactation care and clinical management in collaboration with other members of the health care team and the client. Breastfeeding and counseling are integral parts of the care provided by the consultant. Bedside lactation will be required as well as teaching classes, support groups and clinics.

Estimated pay range for this position is $33.36 to $45.02 / hour depending on experience.

Qualifications:

Degrees: Associates Licenses & Certifications: NRP, BLS Additional Qualifications: Associate degree in Nursing or Bachelors degree in Nursing. Minimum Required Experience: Current IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant) Certification required. The clinical practice of the lactation consultant focuses on providing lactation care and clinical management in collaboration with other members of the health care team and the client. Breastfeeding and counseling are integral parts of the care provided by the consultant. Bedside lactation will be required as well as teaching classes, support groups and clinics.

RNs hired prior to 2/2012 are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non-leadership role as an RN. RNs hired after 2/2012 with an Associate degree will have 5 years from their date of hire to complete the BSN degree. RN must complete a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice. As per department standard any of the following may be required (ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support, BLS- Basic Life Support, PALS- Pediatric Advanced Life Support, NRP- Neonatal Resuscitation Program or ONS-Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card).
