About the unit

West Bloomfield is an outpatient facility offering two Endoscopy Suites and an additional 3 ORs. Service lines consist of endoscopy, ophthalmology, podiatry, ENT, breasts, plastics, general surgery, and dental procedures. We provide care for both pediatric and adult patient populations. West Bloomfield utilizes a teamwork approach, comprised of RNs, Surgical Technologists, and Surgery Support Staff to provide compassionate care for patients while supporting surgeons and anesthesia providers throughout the surgical procedure. Patient safety is primary focus, along with providing patient -family centered care.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Associates in Nursing Required
Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
2 years of PACU, Endoscopy, or ICU RN experience preferred

RN Cath Lab Prep/Recovery

Two-week rotating core schedule Week One: Wed 0830-2100, Fri 0830-2100 Week Two: Tues 0830-2100, Wed 0830-2100, Fri 0700-1930 3 MHC is a 24 bed Prep/Recovery unit at Meijer Heart Center that prepares and recovers both outpatients and inpatients for their Cath and Electrophysiology Lab procedures. The unit is open from 6am – 9pm. The majority of 3 Heart outpatients are discharged the same day and are cared for by the same staff from arrival to discharge. We perform a wide range of procedures on 3MHC, including, electrophysiology, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, structural heart, and peripheral. Team members hired onto 3MHC will gain knowledge in all of these specialties. In addition, we perform diagnostic and follow up care to our heart and lung transplant patients, creating an opportunity for long term relationships with this patient population. Our team are experts at IV starts, time management, and managing vascular access sites. Nurses are often drawn to this unit due to the camaraderie and true sense of teamwork. We have a small team, and work alongside nurses, nurse techs, doctors, PA's, and cardiovascular technicians. Summary Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
