Texas Health Plano has served the communities of Plano, Frisco, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and McKinney. We are a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas with incredible care and amazing people. We specialize in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit and state of the art and technologically advanced surgical services. Plus, we are a Level II Trauma Facility, the only health care facility in Collin County to have achieved both the Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designation and have a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program.
Texas Health Plano is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement and a Primary Heart Attack Center. Telemetry Step Down Department Highlights

- Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
- The professional RN exhibits understanding of basic human needs
- Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program; nursing diploma
- BSN preferred.
- 1 year experience as a registered nurse in an acute setting required
- 2 years’ experience as a registered nurse in an acute setting preferred
- RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Req and
- BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required and
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req and
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days required
- This role directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed. Individuals in this role will demonstrate:
- Quality Management - Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
- Conflict Management - Understanding of how to anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to diverse situations.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking - Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Flexibility and Adaptability - Knowledge of successful approaches, tools, and techniques for dealing with changes and adapting to a changing environment; ability to adapt as needed.
- Delegation - Understanding of the need to effectively delegate tasks to others and the ability to empower and motivate associates to take over tasks and responsibilities to accomplish results for which the manager maintains ultimate accountability.
- Customer Interaction - Knowledge of the principles and techniques of communicating with a customer; ability to utilize practices, tools, and techniques for customer interaction.
- Patient Safety - Knowledge of and experience with tools, techniques and practices for ensuring a safe and harm-free environment for patients; ability to recognize risks and take steps to minimize them.
- Care Coordination - Knowledge of the medical, social, economic, and other services provided by other departments or facilities, and the ability to integrate these multidisciplinary treatments for optimal patient care
- Clinical Policies and Standards - Knowledge of all clinical standards and policies set for a healthcare environment; ability to use industry standards, policies and procedures in the processes of clinical practice.
- Patient Rights - Knowledge of principles and practices associated with the rights and responsibilities of patients and caregivers; ability to apply these theories to identify, report, deal with and prevent patient rights violations.
