Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic Medical Director, Pain Clinic Medical Director, and Chief of Anesthesia, and in accordance with standardized procedures, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) role will work clinically in the Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic (PAC). The Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic is an ambulatory clinic responsible for the preoperative assessment and optimization of patients undergoing surgery. The clinic offers telemedicine and in-person consultations. The NP role provides clinical and operational support to the Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. General responsibilities are obtaining a health history, performing a physical assessment, identifying problems and formulating a plan that includes further diagnostic evaluation, risk stratification and counseling.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
- Nurse Practitioner 1 (less than six (6) months of experience as an NP):
- At least one year of recent work in outpatient neurology and/or neurosurgery clinic
- Nurse Practitioner 2 (at least six (6) months of NP experience):
- At least two years of recent work in outpatient internal medicine or critical care.
- A minimum one (1) year of recent clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Experience in perioperative setting
- Fluent in Spanish and/or Cantonese
- Experience in Pain Management
- Previous training and experience in Critical Care, Cardiology, or Internal Medicine
- Training and experience in Family Practice
- Yes
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction
- California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number including Schedule II furnishing privileges
- NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role, Adult Outpatient (A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC).

- California Driver License (if required for position)
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Additional required AHA certifications: ACLS
