Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse for the Behavioral Research & Training Institute within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to serve as an expert in the advanced nursing care. The APN functions collaboratively with physician of protocol for prescriptive practice and works collaboratively within the treatment team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services. The APN demonstrates competency according to the American Nurses Association Advanced Practice Standards and credentialing body.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Demonstrates a commitment to maintain the standard of clinical practice adapted by the American Nurses Association and ensures that nursing care meets the national standards for the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Engages in collaborative practice with the physician of protocol for prescriptive practice.
Consults with physicians, psychiatrist, and other clinical staff members as necessary.
Diagnoses health and developmental problems.
Formulates and implements an appropriate plan of treatment for patients in own caseload, and participates with treatment team, in the development of treatment plans on shared patients.
Assists in the development of protocols for specific psychiatric patient population.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Demonstrates a commitment to facilitate and support personal professional growth through utilization of effective communication techniques with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
