Bronson is offering a Surgical Nurse Internship for licensed Registered Nurses seeking a new opportunity in surgical care (seeking candidates with 1 year of clinical nursing experience). This program is designed to prepare nurses for practice in the fast-paced and constantly evolving field of surgical nursing. Interns will take part in an extended orientation that includes classroom instruction, hands-on training in both foundational and advanced surgical skills, clinical experience, and the development of critical thinking. The curriculum follows best practices and current standards in surgical nursing. All nurses providing direct patient care are expected to demonstrate competencies specific to the surgical patient population.

As an OR RN Intern, you will participate in a full-time, day-shift orientation lasting approximately 6 to 8 months. After successful completion of orientation, you will transition into an available OR Registered Nurse position—please note that this transition may involve placement on any shift, depending on department needs.

Overview Responsible for developing clinical skills and problem solving techniques based on current established Standards of Care, the Nurse Practice Act and Methodist Hospital policies and procedures. This is accomplished under direct supervision of the designated preceptor as evidenced by preceptor co-signature of all actions. The Nurse Extern IV demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population served on a designated nursing unit. Overview Job Summary The nurse extern works closely with our professional healthcare team to deliver compassionate patient-centered care to those in need. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor, the nurse extern has the opportunity to develop confidence in critical thinking and prioritization while sharpening clinical skills needed to launch a successful nursing career in a manageable timeframe.
