  • Schedule: . 75 FTE working five 12-hour Night shifts every two weeks
  • Unit: 36-bed inpatient cardiac surgery unit
  • Hospital: Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend -350 bed acute care medical center with level II trauma center, STEMI Center and Stroke Center

Location: Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is situated along the Mckenzie River in Springfield, Oregon. Located an hour from the Pacific Ocean and 2 hours South of Portland, Oregon, Springfield and its sister city Eugene are adventure-driven destinations. Position Details: Provide care of post cardiac surgery patients. Nursing care of stroke patients with cardiac co-morbidity, 8-24 hours post tPA or thrombectomy or more frequent monitoring than can be provided on the floor. Care of patients post Carotid Artery Stenting, and coiling of non-ruptured aneurysms. Performance of NIHSS, nursing bedside swallow screen.

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  • Perform stroke patient education utilizing health literacy education principles. Familiar with stroke guideline driven stroke discharge medications
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Accredited School of Nursing Required
  • Requires: 1-year RN experience in an acute care hospital with cardiac nursing experience preferred
  • Required: Oregon Registered Nurse License
  • Required: Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification
  • Required: ACLS and NIHSS certifications required within six months of hire
  • Preferred: BSN
