Clinical Nurse I - Call Center

Department of Nursing

As an integral member of our Magnet Nursing team, the successful RN candidate will be focused on – patient advocacy and delivering the highest quality of care to our patients! Working in an evidence-based nursing environment that commands excellence every day, you will apply your nursing expertise over the phone. As a Call Center nurse you will monitor compliance, promote satisfaction and manage/trend data.

Responsibilities

Review all pre-operative testing and medical clearance notes
Prior to surgery you will call HSS patients to provide pre-op instructions and general reassurance.
Post-op you will call HSS Ambulatory patients discharged to home and listen to their specific questions and provide information
Provide patient and family education, reinforce discharge instructions, review prescriptions, identify community resources and recommend appropriate follow up.
Act as patient advocate while collaborating with MD office staff
Collect comprehensive data on patients’ health (from patients and/or family members);
Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, family members, co-workers and other customers
Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment
Support departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital

Minimum Requirements

BSN from an accredited school of nursing required
3+ years’ of acute care experience
NYS RN license and registration required
BLS certification required

Essential Qualifications

HCAHPS/EPIC knowledge preferred
Possess strong and effective communication skills; project friendly and amiable demeanor with patients/family members on the phone.
Strong patient centered approach with emphasis on providing exemplary and world-class customer service
Meticulous attention to detail

NRP certification is required for all RNs working in the Mother-Baby unit, Labor & Delivery, and NICU. All newly hired nurses to the NICU, L&D, and Mother-Baby must receive this certification within 6 months. Effective 10/31/25 all RNs working on 5I are required to have NRP. Experienced RNs will have 6 months to obtain and new graduates will have 12 months. Educate the patient and/or family in therapy administration via IV Infusion therapy preparation and administration Patient safety, monitoring, and post-infusion follow-up Communication with patients, families, infusion pharmacy, and medical providers as necessary A successful infusion field nurse will collaborate with the infusion manager, coordinators, and other internal office staff. They will conduct on-site field visits to provide patient care and supervise the competence of nursing staff upon request. They must be able to multitask and prioritize work responsibilities and duties. Time management skills are essential to the success of this role.
