Nemours is seeking a casual /PRN nurse for Urgent care , Glen Mills, PA.
Schedule: Minimum of one 8 hour shift every 6 weeks, weekend rotation and commitment of one winter and one summer holiday.
TheUrgent Care Registered nurse is a member of the leadership team, overseeing and supporting, the Urgent care clinical team and is accountable for daily shift operations.
BSN required
Active compact state RN license required
National certification in area of clinical specialty (preferred)
PALS on hire of with 90 days from your start date.
BLS from American Heart Association
1-3 Years Of Job Related Experience Required
3 years of pediatric experience in specialty area, preferred

TheUrgent Care Registered nurse is a member of the leadership team, overseeing and supporting, the Urgent care clinical team and is accountable for daily shift operations.
- Practice of professional nursing means the performance of those acts requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgement, and nursing skill based upon applied principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences which shall include, but not be limited to:
- (a) The observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care; health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirm; and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others.
- (b) The administration of medications and treatments as prescribed or authorized by a duly licensed practitioner authorized by the laws of this state to prescribe such medications and treatments.
- (c) The supervision and teaching of other personnel in the theory and performance of any of the acts.
- The Registered Nurse implements the patient care delivery model for the patient and their family.
- Provide cross coverage to other Urgent Care locations in the Delaware Valley when necessary.
- Utilize and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines, and reliable methods to make clinical practice decisions.
- Recognize and respond to the dynamic situation while sorting out extraneous detail and exercises clinical judgment based on an immediate grasp of the whole picture for the patient population of the assigned clinical area.
- Collect and interpret complex patient data with clinical events to make clinical decisions to meet individual patient and family needs.
- Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, proactively seek expert consultation, and delegate to other clinicians, as appropriate, while using evidence-based guidelines.
- Utilizes and contributes to evidence-based practice
- Determines and prioritizes the patients nursing care needs and maintains responsibility for directing aspects of care which are delegated to patient care team member .
- Initiates, implements, and evaluates standards of care based on identified patient .
- Consistently shows empathy, sensitivity and insight and is able to intervene in stressful situations .
- Perform triage and discharge.
- Obtain and perform lab tests on patient specimens.
- Intravenous, intramuscular, venipunctures and catheterizations as per protocol and provider order.
- Administer medications.
- Perform and assist with splinting and procedures.
- Follow orders per provider and company protocol, in a timely fashion with professionalism, courtesy, competence and accuracy.
- Prioritizes patients based on acuity
- Discharges patient/family providing written and verbal instructions and ensuring understanding by parent/guardian/patient.
- Involve self or provider for problems arising on shift with patients or parents.
- Fosters a non-discriminatory climate, recognizing, supporting and including cultural diversity in organizational and nursing policy development.
- Recognizes unique differences of patients and families. Incorporates these into patient plan of care.
- Provides for alternative means of communication as required to meet patient and family needs.
- Tailors nursing care to meet the age specific and developmentally appropriate needs of patient and family.
- Preserves and protects the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity and rights of patient and families.
- Advocates on behalf of patients/ families and personnel, promoting adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Acts as resource for patients and families working towards resolution of ethical issues. Initiate’s ethics consult when appropriate.
- Effectively communicates and negotiates needed changes in a patient’s plan of care. Seeks opportunities to learn and be mentored.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with nursing leaders and the inter-professionals within the hospital system.
- Work with patients, families, and Associates in a way that respectfully promotes each person’s contributions toward developing and achieving optimal patient and family goals across the continuum.
- Participate in team meetings
- Facilitate timeliness of patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Use the daily management systems and escalation through the chain of command.
- Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
- Demonstrates leadership ability in responding to situations and efficiently uses existing resources
- Serve as a mentor, coach, or preceptor, based upon clinic needs
- Identify areas of educational needs and facilitate formal and informal learning for patients, families, Associates, and the community.
- Assess patients and family’s readiness to learn.
